Ice Sculpture in Alaska, 2012

While in Fairbanks, Alaska in February, 2012, we drove to Chena Hot Springs where there is an Ice House which doubles as an ice hotel. The whole interior is carved from ice! There are 3 bed rooms, each with their own distinguishing features, and a bar/club. There used to be a large chess set but now there is a leopard, there, instead. I was glad to see that the jousting knights were still intact! The Christmas Tree in one of the bedrooms was replaced- there used to be one in the corner with presents under it. This one, tho, has huge Christmas balls on it and a lovely star on the top! We also visited the Ice Park and International Ice Sculpture Contest, which draws artists from Russia, China, Japan.
